Job Overview: The position involves consulting on the consolidation of Bolivia's National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan for the period 2025-203
This initiative aims to address national challenges related to conservation, sustainable development, and compliance with the global biodiversity framework established at the Kunming-Montreal conference. The consultant will be expected to engage with various stakeholders, analyze existing strategies, and propose actionable recommendations to enhance biodiversity conservation efforts in Bolivia. The role requires a deep understanding of biodiversity issues, policy development, and the ability to work collaboratively with government agencies, NGOs, and local communities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the following duties:
Conduct a comprehensive review of existing biodiversity strategies and action plans in Bolivia.
Facilitate stakeholder consultations to gather input and feedback on biodiversity conservation needs and priorities.
Analyze national and international biodiversity frameworks and their implications for Bolivia.
Develop a consolidated National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan that aligns with global biodiversity goals.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
Collaborate with UNDP and other partners to ensure the strategy is practical and implementable.
Monitor and evaluate the progress of the strategy implementation and suggest adjustments as necessary.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in environmental science, biodiversity conservation, or a related field. They should have proven experience in policy development, stakeholder engagement, and project management. Familiarity with the biodiversity challenges specific to Bolivia and the broader Latin American context is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Biodiversity Conservation, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline is required. A Ph.D. in a relevant field would be an advantage. Candidates should also have formal training in project management and stakeholder engagement methodologies.
Experience: The position requires at least 5 years of professional experience in biodiversity conservation, environmental policy, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, and local communities in Bolivia or similar contexts is highly desirable. Proven track record of developing and implementing biodiversity strategies or action plans is essential.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in this language. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, particularly for engaging with international stakeholders and accessing global biodiversity resources.
Additional Notes: The assignment is expected to last for 75 calendar days. This is a consultancy position, and candidates should be prepared to work flexibly to meet project deadlines.
