Job Posting Organization: The Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) was established in 2011 in partnership with the Government of Turkey. It is one of the six Global Policy Centres of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The mission of IICPSD is to support the private sector and foundations in becoming transformative partners in development. This is achieved through various means such as research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitating public-private dialogue, and brokering partnerships. The center operates globally, leading UNDP's initiatives on private sector engagement and foundations, and it focuses on four thematic areas: Inclusive Business, Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development, Impact Investing, and Resilience and Crisis Response. Job Overview: The position of Volunteer Kobo Toolbox Forms Creation Volunteer is part of the Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme, which aims to mobilize skilled digital volunteers to co-create open-source solutions for disaster preparedness and response. This role is crucial in supporting the first cohort of Tech4R volunteers, particularly in strengthening resilience efforts in Armenia. The primary focus of this position is to develop a data collection tool that will assist first responders and municipalities in supporting communities during and after disasters. The volunteer will collaborate with the team to build Kobo Toolbox forms, create user guides for end users, and assist the Power BI team in integrating these components effectively. This role not only involves technical skills but also requires a commitment to enhancing community resilience through innovative digital solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Volunteer Kobo Toolbox Forms Creation Volunteer will be responsible for several key tasks:
Creating Kobo Toolbox forms tailored to the needs of disaster response teams and municipalities.
Running tests on the forms to ensure functionality and usability.
Documenting user guides that provide clear instructions for end users on how to utilize the forms effectively.
Utilizing Excel to manage data and subsequently transferring this data into the Kobo Toolbox platform.
Conducting pilot data collection exercises using Kobo Toolbox or similar platforms to test the effectiveness of the forms in real-world scenarios.
Performing data quality checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the collected data.
Troubleshooting any issues that arise during the data collection process and providing basic digital literacy support to users.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for this volunteer position should possess a strong understanding of digital tools and platforms, particularly Kobo Toolbox. They should have experience in data collection and management, as well as the ability to create user-friendly documentation. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues are essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to community service and resilience-building efforts, particularly in the context of disaster response.
Educational Background: A background in fields related to information technology, data management, or social sciences is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of digital tools and their applications in real-world scenarios, particularly in the context of disaster preparedness and response.
Experience: While prior experience in volunteer roles or disaster response is beneficial, it is not strictly required. However, candidates should demonstrate familiarity with data collection tools and platforms, as well as a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of Armenian or Turkish would be considered an asset, as it would facilitate better communication with local stakeholders and communities.
Additional Notes: This is a volunteer position, and as such, it may not offer financial compensation.
