Job Overview: The National Consultant for the Review of the TB Programme and Updates of the TB National Strategic Plan will play a crucial role in overseeing the review process of the tuberculosis (TB) program in South Sudan. This position requires the consultant to work under the guidance of the Lead National Consultant for HIV and TB Programme Reviews. The consultant will be responsible for coordinating and supervising both international and national counterparts, ensuring effective collaboration with technical assistance from partners such as the World Health Organization (WHO). The consultant's primary objective is to ensure that the TB program is evaluated comprehensively, and that the national strategic plan is updated to reflect current needs and best practices in TB management. This role is vital for enhancing the effectiveness of TB interventions in the country and aligning them with global health standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the National Consultant include but are not limited to:
Coordinating the review process of the TB program, ensuring that all stakeholders are engaged and informed.
Supervising the work of international and national consultants involved in the review, providing guidance and support as needed.
Collaborating with partners such as WHO to integrate their technical assistance into the review process.
Analyzing data and information related to the current TB program and identifying areas for improvement.
Preparing comprehensive reports on the findings of the review, including recommendations for updates to the TB National Strategic Plan.
Presenting findings to relevant stakeholders, including government officials and health organizations, to advocate for necessary changes.
Ensuring that the review process adheres to ethical standards and best practices in public health.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:
A strong background in public health, particularly in infectious diseases such as tuberculosis.
Familiarity with the health system in South Sudan and the challenges faced in TB management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership and coordination skills.
Educational Background: Candidates should have at least a Master's degree in Public Health, Medicine, or a related field. Additional certifications or training in TB management or program evaluation will be considered an asset. A strong academic background with relevant coursework in epidemiology, health policy, and program management is preferred.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in public health, with a focus on infectious diseases and program evaluation. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of health programs in low-resource settings, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the TB landscape in South Sudan or similar contexts will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication for this position. Knowledge of local languages spoken in South Sudan would be considered a valuable asset, as it may facilitate better engagement with local stakeholders and communities.
Additional Notes: This consultancy position is classified as an Individual Contractor (IC) role, which typically involves a contractual agreement for a specific duration. The contract duration and specific terms will be discussed during the selection process. The position is full-time, and the consultant is expected to be available for the duration of the review process.
