Job Overview: The Project Manager for the Sustainable Finance Facility (SFF) will play a crucial role in managing and leading the SFF platform, which is designed to support the development of blended and innovative financing structures primarily at the sub-national level. This position requires a strategic approach to catalyzing investments that address social, environmental, and climate challenges while ensuring gender considerations are integrated into all interventions. The Project Manager will work closely with various stakeholders, including government entities, UNDP teams, and development partners, to conceptualize, design, implement, and monitor financing instruments that align with the SDGs. The role involves leveraging expertise in SDG integration, advanced analytics, and multi-stakeholder engagement to achieve targeted outcomes. The Project Manager will also oversee monitoring activities to ensure that financing instruments meet their intended goals and contribute to sustainable development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Manager will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
Leading the Sustainable Finance Facility and providing technical support on financing instruments.
Identifying and developing a comprehensive list of financing instruments applicable at national and sub-national levels.
Conducting due diligence to evaluate regulatory constraints and market opportunities for innovative financing mechanisms.
Mapping and analyzing current and future potential for innovative finance instruments.
Developing outreach strategies and business models for UNDP's engagement in financing instruments.
Leading technical consultations with national and state governments to align sustainable finance frameworks with existing policies.
Supporting state governments in implementing sub-national financing frameworks.
Forging partnerships with various stakeholders, including financial institutions and impact investors, to enhance demand for financing instruments.
Designing and implementing capacity-building workshops based on government requests. 1
Leading the development of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the performance of sustainable finance mechanisms. 1
Preparing periodic progress reports for donors and partners and coordinating meetings and workshops as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in finance, management, development, climate, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be considered. The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience with a master's degree or seven years with a bachelor's degree in areas such as strategy consulting, international development, impact investing, financial services, public finance, or sustainable finance. Candidates should have experience working with development partners, government, or the private sector on sustainable development programming, climate change finance, and financing instruments. Project management experience with development organizations or international financial institutions is essential, along with demonstrated skills in providing project advisory services and monitoring and evaluation.

Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the regions in which UNDP operates.
