Job Overview: The Online Volunteer position is focused on leveraging digital platforms to raise awareness and promote the International Volunteer Day (IVD) and International Volunteer Year (IVY) 202
This role is essential for enhancing public visibility and engagement regarding volunteerism in Nigeria, particularly in the context of the upcoming International Volunteer Year. Selected volunteers will work closely with the UNV West and Central Africa Communications Team and the UNV Nigeria Field Unit communications team to disseminate key messages and compelling content across various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn. The primary expectation is to actively engage with the audience, share impactful stories, and encourage public participation in volunteer initiatives that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 17, which focuses on partnerships for the goals. Volunteers will be provided with necessary materials and guidance to ensure their contributions are effective and aligned with the campaign's objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Share pre-produced social media content, including cards and short videos, across personal social media platforms to promote IVD and IVY 202
Collaborate with the UNV communications team to ensure that all shared content aligns with campaign guidelines and messaging.
Engage actively with followers and the broader community to foster discussions around volunteerism and its impact on sustainable development.
Monitor social media engagement and provide feedback on the effectiveness of shared content.
Participate in regular meetings with the communications team to discuss strategies, share insights, and align on messaging.
Contribute ideas for new content that could enhance the visibility of volunteerism and encourage public participation.
Support the overall campaign by promoting volunteer stories and initiatives that resonate with the audience.
Required Qualifications:
Strong understanding of social media platforms and their functionalities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to craft engaging content.
