Job Overview: The position of Green financing strategy development consultant is aimed at providing technical support to the project team working on 'Accelerating Mongolia's Inclusive Green Economy transition'. The consultant will be responsible for developing a comprehensive green financing strategy that aligns with Mongolia's goals for sustainable development and climate resilience. This role requires a deep understanding of green financing mechanisms, environmental policies, and the socio-economic context of Mongolia. The consultant will work closely with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector, to ensure that the strategy is inclusive and effectively addresses the needs of various communities. The initial contract will span 90 working days over a period of 5 months, during which the consultant will engage in research, stakeholder consultations, and the drafting of the strategy document.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be expected to perform a variety of duties including: conducting a thorough analysis of existing green financing initiatives in Mongolia; identifying gaps and opportunities for enhancing green financing; engaging with stakeholders to gather insights and feedback; developing a detailed green financing strategy that includes actionable recommendations; preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings and proposals; collaborating with the project team to ensure alignment with project objectives; and providing ongoing support and expertise throughout the implementation phase of the strategy.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in environmental science, finance, or a related field. They should have proven experience in developing financing strategies, particularly in the context of sustainable development and climate change. Familiarity with the Mongolian socio-economic landscape and existing environmental policies is essential. Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience in stakeholder engagement are also required. The consultant should be able to work independently and demonstrate a commitment to promoting inclusive and sustainable economic practices.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in environmental science, finance, economics, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in sustainable development, climate finance, or project management would be advantageous. Candidates with relevant academic qualifications and professional experience in green financing will be prioritized.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in green financing, sustainable development, or environmental policy. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in a consulting capacity is highly desirable. Proven track record of developing and implementing financing strategies or similar projects is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Mongolian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the consultant's work. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is set for 90 working days over a 5-month period. The consultant will be expected to work on a full-time basis during this contract. The role is open to national candidates only, and the compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
