Job Overview: The position of Individual Contractor for the Social Development Division at ESCAP involves a range of responsibilities aimed at enhancing women's economic empowerment and addressing the challenges faced by women and girls in the Asia-Pacific region. The contractor will be tasked with preparing substantive materials and providing logistical and communications support for various national consultations and workshops, including the development of concept notes, draft programs, and presentations. The role also includes designing a comprehensive social media campaign for the International Day of Care and Support, supporting ESCAP's participation in significant events, and finalizing reports and publications related to the care economy. The contractor will play a crucial role in promoting gender equality and ensuring that women's contributions to the economy are recognized and valued.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Individual Contractor include:
Preparing substantive materials for national consultations and intersectoral workshops, including concept notes, draft programs, and presentations.
Submitting final meeting reports and evaluations for various events, including the national consultation and intersectoral workshop in Timor-Leste.
Designing a social media campaign for the Asia-Pacific regional commemoration of the International Day of Care and Support.
Supporting ESCAP's participation in the 'New Frontiers of Care Seminars' in Malaysia, including the development of presentations and talking points.
Finalizing the Timor-Leste country case study on the care economy.
Preparing annual progress reports and M&E documentation for the care economy project.
Developing an annotated outline for a regional publication on care and supporting the drafting of chapters.
Planning and implementing care-related side events during significant international days and forums.
Providing additional support as requested, aligned with the overall project scope.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include an advanced university degree in development, social sciences, or a related field. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in research and analysis on socioeconomic issues, with previous experience working with UN entities and non-governmental organizations being highly desirable. Strong research and drafting skills are essential, along with experience in providing coordination and administrative support for event organization.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in development, social sciences, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of socioeconomic issues and the challenges faced by women and girls in the Asia-Pacific region.
Experience: The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in undertaking research and analysis on socioeconomic issues. Experience working with UN entities and non-governmental organizations is preferred, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.
