Interns are expected to be between 20 and 36 years old and should have less than two years of relevant working experience. The programme aims to provide practical experience in areas relevant to IOM's work, allowing interns to contribute to the organization's mission while gaining valuable insights into the field of migration. Interns may be required to complete their studies through this internship or may be sponsored by governmental or non-governmental institutions. The role involves providing administrative support for the Canadian Visa Application Centre operated by IOM, ensuring compliance with service standards and delivering excellent client service.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will assist in providing client service excellence to applicants, ensuring compliance with the IRCC Statement of Work and Service Standards. Responsibilities include distributing application forms and checklists, managing queue order through the Queue Management System, and responding to client inquiries via telephone, email, and chat. Interns will also assist in marketing and providing information about Value Added Services, returning passports and supporting documentation, and undertaking other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a completed bachelor's degree from an accredited academic institution in business administration or a related field. University graduates who have graduated within the last year are encouraged to apply. Interns should possess strong communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to draft clear and accurate information. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs and standard office equipment is essential. Additional Notes: The internship is subject to funding confirmation and medical fitness certification. Interns may receive a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, but those receiving financial remuneration or credits from their university or other sponsoring bodies will not be eligible for this stipend. IOM provides coverage for occupational accidents and illnesses but does not offer evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational incidents. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance and must provide proof of coverage before starting work. IOM has a zero-tolerance policy regarding misconduct and does not charge any fees during the recruitment process.
