Job Overview: The consultant position is aimed at supporting the implementation of UN Women’s Women’s Economic Empowerment Strategy in the Europe and Central Asia region. The consultant will work under the guidance of the Program Specialist on Women’s Entrepreneurship Acceleration and the Deputy Regional Director. The role involves developing work plans, drafting project proposals, policy papers, and analytical reports, as well as creating training manuals and conducting training sessions related to women's economic empowerment. The consultant will also be responsible for organizing events, conducting surveys, and producing knowledge products. This position requires a deep understanding of women's economic empowerment issues and the ability to engage with various stakeholders to drive transformative solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be expected to perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: developing detailed work plans for consultancy assignments; supporting the drafting of project/program proposals related to women's economic empowerment; assisting in the creation of policy papers and analytical reports; developing training manuals and conducting training sessions; organizing events and facilitating discussions; conducting surveys and data collection; producing knowledge products and publications; moderating sessions and delivering keynote speeches; and drafting detailed reports of consultancy activities. The consultant should indicate their areas of expertise in their application, as they may be required to perform specific tasks based on their qualifications.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in development, economics, human rights, international relations, or other social science fields. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. The position requires at least seven years of experience in designing policies or managing programs focused on women's economic empowerment, particularly in developing countries. Experience in program and policy analysis, strategic planning, and communication is essential. Familiarity with the UN system and experience in the Europe and Central Asia region are considered assets.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as development, economics, human rights, international relations, or social sciences is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted. This educational background ensures that the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to address complex issues related to women's economic empowerment.
Experience: The consultant should have a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in designing policies and managing programs focused on women's economic empowerment. This experience should ideally include work in developing countries, as well as expertise in program and policy analysis, strategic planning, and communication. Experience working with the UN system is advantageous, particularly within the Europe and Central Asia region, as it provides insight into the operational context and challenges faced in these areas.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of one or more languages spoken in the countries covered by UN Women’s Europe and Central Asia Regional Office is considered an asset, as it enhances communication and engagement with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is home-based, allowing for flexibility in work location. However, the consultant may be required to travel to countries within the Europe and Central Asia region as necessary, with travel expenses covered according to UN Women’s rules and procedures.
