Job Overview:
The consultant will play a crucial role in addressing the complex security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security challenges in Northern Nigeria, particularly in the Northwest region, which has been severely affected by violence, banditry, and conflicts between farmers and herders. The primary function of this position is to conduct training workshops aimed at equipping Nigerian government officials, civil society organizations (CSOs), community-based organizations (CBOs), religious leaders, and youth and women groups with the necessary knowledge and strategies to prevent violent extremism (PCVE). The consultant will develop a comprehensive work plan, training modules, and evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of the training sessions. The workshops will focus on community resilience, alternative pathways for at-risk individuals, and the roles of various stakeholders in promoting peace and dialogue. The consultant will also be responsible for producing a detailed report summarizing the training outcomes and recommendations for future efforts in PCVE programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with developing a comprehensive work plan that outlines all tasks to be completed during the consultancy period, including a realistic timeline. They will create context-appropriate pre- and post-training tools to measure knowledge and attitude changes, as well as workshop agendas and training modules. The consultant will conduct two distinct workshop sessions in Gusau, Zamfara State, each lasting two days, targeting government officials, CSOs, CBOs, religious leaders, and community youth and women groups. After the workshops, the consultant will compile a detailed report that includes a summary of the training topics, participant feedback, and recommendations for community dialogue mechanisms and alternative pathways for at-risk individuals. Additional tasks may be assigned related to the coordination and delivery of the PCVE workshops.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of four years of experience in designing and delivering training related to PCVE or DDRR. Additionally, a minimum of five years of experience working with government entities, CSOs, and CBOs in areas such as humanitarian assistance, peacebuilding, mediation, dialogue, and conflict resolution is required. The consultant should demonstrate a strong understanding of the PCVE context and possess excellent facilitation skills to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in social science, behavioral science, management science, humanitarian studies, law, arts, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree combined with accredited certificates in relevant fields may also be considered acceptable.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of four years of experience specifically in designing and delivering training programs focused on PCVE or DDRR. Furthermore, candidates should have at least five years of experience collaborating with government entities, CSOs, and CBOs in relevant sectors, demonstrating a solid background in humanitarian work, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory. A working knowledge of the local Hausa language is also required to effectively communicate with participants during the training sessions.

Additional Notes:
The initial duration of the consultancy contract will be two months, with the consultant responsible for all logistics and accommodation arrangements during this period. Payment will be made in two installments: the first installment (40%) upon validation of the first deliverable, and the second and third installments (60%) upon validation of the second and third deliverables. The consultant must provide proof of medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses before commencing work. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding misconduct and does not charge any fees during the recruitment process.
