Job Overview: The Knowledge Management Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the EpiC Nigeria project, which is a global health initiative funded by the United States Department of State. This position involves providing technical and operational support to ensure that project information, documentation, and tools are effectively captured, organized, and disseminated. The officer will work closely with the Senior Technical Officer, Knowledge Management, to enhance performance monitoring, decision-making, and quality improvement across various levels of implementation. The role requires a strong understanding of public health principles, particularly in disease surveillance and field epidemiology, and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders to promote knowledge sharing and learning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Knowledge Capture and Documentation: Document program implementation processes, lessons learned, best practices, and innovations. Capture tacit knowledge from field teams and stakeholders through interviews and learning sessions. Develop high-quality knowledge products such as briefs, case studies, and reports.
Knowledge Organization and Management Systems: Maintain structured knowledge repositories and promote standardized templates and version control processes. Ensure knowledge assets are organized and accessible.
Learning, Knowledge Sharing, and Use: Facilitate internal learning platforms and promote cross-learning among teams. Synthesize and disseminate learning to inform program adaptation.
Integration with Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL): Collaborate with Strategic Information teams to ensure data informs knowledge products. Contribute to learning agendas and documentation of program adaptations.
Stakeholder Engagement and External Knowledge Sharing: Prepare knowledge products for external stakeholders and coordinate dissemination of lessons learned.
Capacity Strengthening: Build capacity of program staff to document and share knowledge effectively.
Reporting and Other Duties: Contribute to routine program reports and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Public Health, Health Informatics, Biostatistics, or a related field. A minimum of 4 years of experience in knowledge management, documentation, or information systems support in health programs. Strong knowledge of Nutrition and MNCH indicators. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and design applications for preparing knowledge products. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to clarity and accuracy. Strong organizational skills and ability to consolidate information quickly. Ability to work independently and collaboratively under short timelines.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in relevant fields such as Public Health, Health Informatics, or Biostatistics. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of health programs and knowledge management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in knowledge management, documentation, or information systems support specifically within health programs. Candidates should have a proven track record of developing knowledge products and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and for documentation purposes. Knowledge of local languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Abuja, Nigeria, and may require travel within the country, estimated at 30% to 40%. The role is full-time and involves working in a typical office environment.
