Job Overview: The Senior Technical Advisor (STA) for Maternal, Newborn, Child Health (MNCH) will play a crucial role in leading and overseeing MNCH interventions under the EpiC MNCH/N Project. This position requires a deep understanding of global best practices and national guidelines in MNCH, ensuring that design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and implementation are aligned with donor requirements. The STA will be responsible for providing technical leadership, guiding the development of tools and guidelines, and ensuring the integration of evidence-based approaches across the continuum of care. The role also involves mentoring project staff and health workers, representing EpiC Nigeria in technical forums, and strengthening partnerships with government and other stakeholders. The STA will be expected to manage competing priorities effectively and work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy in planning and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Technical Advisor will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: providing technical guidance for the design, roll-out, and monitoring of MNCH interventions; leading the development and adaptation of tools, SOPs, guidelines, and job aids for MNCH programming; ensuring the integration of evidence-based approaches across the continuum of care; overseeing MNCH M&E indicators and quality improvement approaches; supporting documentation of lessons learned; representing EpiC Nigeria in MNCH technical forums and donor engagements; strengthening partnerships with government and partners; mentoring project staff, state government teams, and PHC health workers; and performing other duties as assigned by the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Director.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, Nursing, or a related field. Additionally, they should have at least 12 years of experience in MNCH technical leadership, with a strong understanding of national MNCH policies and primary healthcare systems. Familiarity with U.S. Department of State-funded programs and experience engaging with stakeholders is highly desirable. Excellent analytical and communication skills are essential, along with a demonstrated ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments. Candidates should also have a proven track record of managing competing priorities and working independently.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, Nursing, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is critical to ensure that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to provide effective technical leadership in MNCH interventions.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 12 years of experience in MNCH technical leadership. Candidates should have a demonstrated history of success in managing MNCH programs and initiatives, with a strong understanding of both global practices and national policies related to maternal and child health. Experience in supervising teams and working in diverse environments is also essential.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly if they relate to the local context or the populations served by the EpiC project.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Abuja, Nigeria, and may require travel up to 50% of the time. The role is full-time and involves working in a typical office environment.
