Job Overview:

Additionally, the intern will assist in preparing visibility materials for projects, such as factsheets and briefs, and will support the development of simple photo and video content, depending on their skills. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the Media and Communications Coordinator, program teams, and the grants unit, allowing the intern to participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for enhancing communication outputs while gaining valuable experience in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties and responsibilities include supporting the implementation of communications activities in accordance with organizational guidelines and donor requirements. They will assist in producing various communication materials for both internal and external audiences, ensuring compliance with branding and visibility standards across all outputs. The intern will contribute to the documentation of program activities through photos, short stories, and field notes, and will support the communications team in administrative and coordination tasks. Specific responsibilities include drafting basic communication materials such as human interest stories, social media posts, internal updates, and newsletters. The intern will support content collection from field teams, including photos and participant stories, and will assist in media monitoring by tracking relevant news and humanitarian updates and compiling summaries. They will also help prepare visibility materials for projects, support the development of simple photo and video content where applicable, organize and archive communication materials, and assist with logistics for media visits, events, or campaigns as needed.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Communications Intern position should possess a BSc or HND in Mass Communication or a related field. A strong interest in communications, media, or humanitarian work is essential, along with basic writing and storytelling skills. Familiarity with social media platforms is important, and basic photography or content creation skills would be considered an added advantage. A good command of English, both written and spoken, is mandatory, while knowledge of Hausa is an advantage. The candidate should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment, possess the ability to meet deadlines and follow guidance, and have an interest in humanitarian issues, particularly in Northeast Nigeria.

Educational Background:
Candidates are required to have a BSc or HND in Mass Communication or a related field.
