Job Overview: The position involves providing professional photography services for UNDP Uganda as needed. The contract is for an initial period of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance, up to a maximum of three years.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities for this position include:
Collaborating with UNDP Uganda staff to understand photography needs and project requirements.
Planning and executing photography assignments, including events, workshops, and project activities.
Editing and retouching images to ensure high-quality outputs that meet UNDP's standards.
Delivering images in a timely manner, adhering to deadlines set by UNDP.
Maintaining an organized archive of photographs for easy access and retrieval.
Ensuring compliance with copyright and licensing regulations for all images captured.
Providing creative input on photography styles and techniques that align with UNDP's branding.
Communicating effectively with UNDP staff regarding project updates and any challenges encountered during assignments.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include:
Proven experience in professional photography, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous work.
Proficiency in photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
Strong understanding of composition, lighting, and photographic techniques.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with UNDP staff and stakeholders.
Knowledge of UNDP's mission and values is an advantage.
Educational Background: A degree in photography, visual arts, or a related field is preferred. However, equivalent professional experience and a strong portfolio may be considered in lieu of formal education. Continuous professional development in photography and related fields is also beneficial.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of professional photography experience, preferably in a development or non-profit context. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is a plus, as it demonstrates an understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of capturing impactful images in such environments.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and deliverables will be in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Uganda is an advantage, as it may facilitate better interactions during assignments.
Additional Notes: This position is a contract role with a duration of 12 months, renewable based on satisfactory performance. The contractor will work on a home-based basis, providing flexibility in work hours. The role is classified as an individual contractor position, and the contractor will be responsible for their own equipment and expenses related to photography assignments. Compensation details will be discussed during the negotiation phase, and the contractor is expected to adhere to UNDP's procurement guidelines throughout the assignment.
