Job Overview:
The Data Coordinator position at IDMC is crucial for implementing the organization's methodologies for monitoring internal displacement related to conflict and disaster specifically within the East & Southeast Asia sub-region. The role involves maintaining and building partnerships while acting as the focal point for contextual information and analysis pertinent to this area. The Data Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing internal displacement trends, ensuring data is uploaded into the IDMC database with strict adherence to established standards for frequency, consistency, and accuracy. This position requires a collaborative individual who can contribute to the technical development of monitoring tools and support institutional projects as necessary. The Data Coordinator will also play a key role in strengthening the capacities of partners to monitor and analyze internal displacement effectively, thereby enhancing the overall impact of IDMC's work in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Data Coordinator will undertake a variety of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: monitoring and analyzing internal displacement caused by conflict, violence, and disasters in East & Southeast Asia; uploading data on internal displacement into the IDMC database while ensuring compliance with IDMC's standards; contributing to the analysis of displacement trends in the sub-region; assisting in the technical development of IDMC's monitoring tools; maintaining and expanding IDMC's network of partners in the region; supporting efforts to enhance partners' capacities for monitoring and analyzing internal displacement; and providing support for institutional projects as required. The role demands a proactive approach to data management and analysis, ensuring that all outputs are of high quality and contribute to the organization's mission.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Data Coordinator position should possess a strong set of qualifications, including at least 3-5 years of experience in research, data collection, and quantitative data analysis. A solid understanding of the East & Southeast Asia sub-region and operational experience related to conflict or disaster-induced displacement is essential. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in processing, reviewing, and uploading large datasets, as well as strong analytical capabilities to produce concise analytical products. Additionally, candidates should exhibit a collaborative working style, political acumen, and excellent presentation and communication skills. Organizational and time management skills are crucial, particularly the ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in international affairs, social sciences, displacement, migration, humanitarian or development studies, information science, statistics, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary theoretical foundation and analytical skills needed to effectively monitor and analyze internal displacement issues.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in research, data collection, and quantitative data analysis. Experience working with databases and information management systems is also essential. Candidates should have a proven track record of operational experience in the context of conflict or disaster-related displacement, which will be critical for understanding the complexities of the issues at hand.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, proficiency in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate and collaborate effectively within the sub-region.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Bangkok, Thailand, under a national contract for a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension depending on funding availability. The role may require frequent travel, up to 30%. The salary and benefits are aligned with NRC Thailand's national salary scale and terms and conditions. It is important to note that this position is open only to Thai nationals or individuals who already possess the legal right to work in Thailand, as visa and work-permit sponsorship are not available.
