Job Overview: The Investment Manager (Investment Officer) will be a key player in the IFC Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Fund, responsible for managing growth equity investments in financial services sector companies, including banks, insurance companies, non-bank financial institutions, and fintech companies operating in emerging markets. The role involves monitoring portfolio companies, developing recommendations for portfolio actions, and proactively managing the existing equity portfolio to enhance the value of AMC and its managed funds. The Investment Manager will also contribute to high-quality reporting for Limited Partners (LPs), assist in presenting investment proposals to the fund’s Investment Committee, and establish strong relationships with investee companies and LPs. This position requires a strategic mindset, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively. The successful candidate will work closely with various teams within AMC and the IFC to implement effective fund administration and support fundraising efforts for new AMC funds.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Investment Manager will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Portfolio Management: Monitor portfolio companies, develop recommendations for operational value creation and divestments, and manage the existing equity portfolio to maximize returns for Limited Partners.
Reporting: Prepare high-quality materials for quarterly and annual fund reporting to LPs, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of information.
Investor Relations: Build credibility with investee companies and LPs, participate in regular communications, and assist in fundraising efforts for new AMC funds, including drafting materials and participating in investor presentations.
Collaboration: Work closely with AMC-managed Funds teams and IFC counterparts to implement effective fund administration, including investor liaison and reporting.
Strategic Input: Contribute to the development of investment strategies and assist in the presentation of investment/exit proposals to the fund’s Investment Committee, articulating detailed investment rationales and recommendations.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Investment Manager position will possess the following qualifications:
An MBA or equivalent degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in an investment bank and/or private equity firm, focusing on principal investments.
Strong analytical and investment assessment skills, with a sound knowledge of equity investment documentation, accounting, financial statement analysis, and financial modeling.
Demonstrated client relationship skills, with the ability to present to clients and interact effectively with counterparts at all levels.
Sound business judgment, problem-solving abilities, negotiation skills, and commercial acumen.
Proactive, self-motivated, and well-organized, with the ability to work effectively under pressure in a diverse, team-oriented environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and tactfully.
