Job Overview: The Digital Communication Officer position at UNICEF is crucial for enhancing the organization's digital presence in Latin America and the Caribbean. The officer will be responsible for setting up early warning systems to manage reputational risks, overseeing content creation, and improving the digital capabilities of 24 Country Offices. The role also includes leading the Parenting Hub project, managing the website, and implementing a digital advertising strategy. The Digital Communication Officer will spearhead a regional campaign for Parenting Month and manage communication partnerships with donors, ensuring that UNICEF's advocacy and communication strategies are effectively executed across digital platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Digital Communication Officer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Developing and implementing social media strategies to enhance UNICEF's digital presence.
Creating and overseeing diverse content for various digital platforms, including social media and websites.
Monitoring performance metrics and adjusting strategies based on audience engagement and trends.
Leading the Parenting Hub project, ensuring effective communication and content management.
Collaborating with the digital team to build the capacity of Country Offices in digital communication.
Setting up early warning mechanisms to anticipate and mitigate reputational risks.
Managing communication partnerships with donors and stakeholders.
Spearheading regional campaigns and initiatives that align with UNICEF's advocacy goals.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field. They should have a minimum of two years of professional experience in communication across various platforms, including print, broadcast, and digital media. Experience in social media management, web development, and campaign execution is essential. Proficiency in using content management systems like Drupal, as well as analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Meta Business Ads, is required. Candidates should demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and an innovative, solution-oriented approach to challenges.
Educational Background: The position requires a university degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of digital communication and the nuances of engaging diverse audiences effectively.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least two years of professional experience in communication, particularly in managing digital and social media platforms. Experience in developing and executing campaigns, as well as familiarity with audience trends and content creation, is crucial.
