Job Overview:
The Driver position at UN Women is crucial for providing reliable and safe transportation services to the UN Women Country Representative, high-ranking UN officials, and visitors. The role requires a strong sense of responsibility, discretion, and integrity, along with excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The Driver is expected to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. In addition to transporting personnel, the Driver may also be tasked with providing driving services to operations and program personnel, consultants, experts, and UN staff on mission as needed. This position is integral to ensuring that UN Women’s operations run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall mission of gender equality and women's empowerment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide reliable and secure driving services, including transporting the UN Women Country Representative and other officials, delivering and collecting mail and documents, and meeting official personnel at the airport.
  • Ensure the proper use of the vehicle by maintaining daily logs, monitoring fuel consumption, and preparing maintenance reports.
  • Conduct day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, ensuring it is clean, in good working condition, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Maintain all required documents and supplies in the vehicle, including insurance, vehicle logs, and first aid kits.
  • Provide general administrative and logistical support to the office, assisting with conferences, workshops, and property management.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and have completed secondary education. A strong knowledge of driving rules and regulations, as well as chauffeur protocol, is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent driving skills, defensive driving capabilities, and the ability to perform minor vehicle repairs. A commitment to environmental sustainability and cost-saving through responsible driving practices is also required.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary education. Candidates must also hold a valid driver’s license to operate the office vehicles.

Experience:
Applicants should have at least three years of relevant experience as a driver, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or the UN system. A safe driving record is essential, demonstrating reliability and professionalism in previous roles.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory for this position, along with a working knowledge of English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
