Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include assisting with daily press monitoring and gathering information on environmental issues pertinent to the region. The intern will also help draft informational materials that communicate UNEP's objectives and activities. Additionally, the intern will support the development of social media content, ensuring that UNEP's messaging reaches a broader audience. Updating the communications list of events and maintaining the calendar will also be part of the intern's duties. The intern may be required to perform other research-related tasks as needed and support any additional business activities as requested by the Regional Information Officer. This role is dynamic and will provide the intern with a comprehensive understanding of UNEP's communication efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be currently enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be currently enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). A preferred area of study includes Communications, Journalism, Design, or another relevant field. While professional work experience is not required for this internship, a field of study closely related to the internship is essential. Applicants must also be proficient in standard software applications and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, along with a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application. This educational requirement ensures that interns possess the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills relevant to the tasks they will undertake during their internship.

Experience:
While prior professional work experience is not a prerequisite for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position.
