Job Overview:
The Driver position at UN Women is crucial for providing reliable and safe driving services to the UN Women Country Representative and other high-ranking UN officials and visitors. The role demands a high level of discretion, integrity, and responsibility, as well as an excellent understanding of protocol and security issues. The Driver is expected to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. In addition to driving high-ranking officials, the Driver may also be tasked with providing transportation for operations and program personnel, consultants, experts, and UN staff on mission as needed. This position is integral to ensuring that UN Women’s operations run smoothly and that personnel can travel safely and efficiently to fulfill their duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide reliable and secure driving services, including transporting the UN Women Country Representative, high-ranking officials, and visitors, as well as facilitating VIP missions.
  • Deliver and collect mail, documents, and other items to various government offices, embassies, and UN offices.
  • Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport, assisting with visa and customs formalities when required.
  • Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts at all times and take immediate actions required by rules and regulations in case of accidents.
  • Adhere to UN Women’s vehicle management policies and ensure all vehicles comply with established security and safety standards.
  • Maintain daily vehicle logs, including mileage, gas consumption, and servicing records.
  • Ensure all official vehicles are kept clean and in good working condition, performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain all required documents and supplies in the vehicle, including insurance, vehicle logs, and first aid kits.
  • Provide general administrative and logistical support to the office, including assistance with conferences, workshops, and property management. 1
  • Perform other duties as required for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary education is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol, and local roads and conditions.
  • Excellent driving skills and defensive driving capabilities.
  • Skills in minor vehicle repairs and maintenance are essential.
  • Ability to be punctual and reliable in all driving assignments.

Educational Background:
The position requires the completion of secondary education, which serves as a foundational educational background for the role. Additionally, candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, which is essential for performing the driving duties associated with this position.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a driver, specifically within an international organization, embassy, or UN system. This experience should include a demonstrated safe driving record, showcasing the candidate's reliability and adherence to driving regulations and protocols.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is required for this position, as it is essential for communication within the local context. Additionally, a working knowledge of English is required, enabling effective communication with international staff and stakeholders.
