Job Overview:
The ERP Project Manager position is crucial for overseeing the assessment and transition initiatives related to UNRWA’s SAP ERP system. The role involves managing the initial phases of the ERP assessment, ensuring that the project aligns with the organizational strategy and industry best practices. The Project Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders, including other UN agencies and ERP providers, to leverage shared knowledge and resources. The position requires conducting a comprehensive analysis of current business processes across multiple functional domains, leading requirements engineering, and ensuring that the ERP system meets the needs of the organization. The Project Manager will also be responsible for benchmarking against peer organizations and implementing interoperability solutions to enhance data exchange. Continuous improvement initiatives and staying updated with emerging SAP technologies are also key aspects of this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the ERP Project Manager include:
  • Directing and managing the initial phases of UNRWA’s SAP ERP assessment and transition initiatives.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments and mapping of current SAP ERP business processes across all functional domains, identifying strengths and weaknesses.
  • Leading the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business and technical requirements for all functional domains.
  • Evaluating existing business models and technical solutions at peer UN organizations, delivering detailed assessment reports and recommendations.
  • Architecting and leading the implementation of interoperability solutions between Umoja and UNRWA’s SAP ERP.
  • Developing comprehensive project plans, including resource allocation, risk management, and timeline estimation for ERP transformation.
  • Overseeing project execution to ensure milestones are met and deliverables align with stakeholder expectations.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring knowledge transfer within the team.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the ERP Project Manager position include an advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) in Information Systems, Software Engineering, Software Architecture, Computer Science, Business Analysis, Business Administration, or related disciplines. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. Candidates must have a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience as a Project Manager and Business Analyst, preferably in SAP ERP implementations. At least two continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA and outside the country(s) of citizenship is required unless already serving as an international staff member in the UN Common System. Demonstrated expertise in SAP S/4HANA migrations and integration technologies is also essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in relevant fields such as Information Systems, Software Engineering, Software Architecture, Computer Science, Business Analysis, or Business Administration. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience as a Project Manager and Business Analyst, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience in SAP ERP implementations. Additionally, candidates should have at least two continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA and outside their country of citizenship, unless they are already serving as an international staff member in the UN Common System.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of UNRWA. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an advantage but is not a requirement for this role.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is based in UNRWA HQA in Amman, Jordan, with a contract duration of up to 12 months. The possibility of extension is subject to the availability of funds, continuing need, and satisfactory performance. The selected candidate will receive a monthly remuneration equivalent to P4 Step 1, amounting to US$9,694.54 for every fully completed month. The consultant will report to the Director of Digital Impact, Technology & Innovation Department and will work closely with various team members. It is important to note that the United Nations does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process.
