Job Overview:
The Information Management Officer is responsible for ensuring that sufficient resources, including tools, technology, learning materials, and human capacity, are available for front-line staff and UNICEF’s implementing partners. This role focuses on timely and high-quality data collection to support daily operations, program monitoring, and reporting through the Bayanati Management Information System (MIS). The officer will also contribute to the development and refinement of the Bayanati system to standardize data collection and analysis across various program areas, responding to emerging needs and priorities. The position requires collaboration with program staff to identify data management solutions and enhance the efficiency of existing information systems, ensuring reliable data processing and reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Information System Design and Development: Support program staff in identifying and implementing data collection and management solutions, including defining necessary tools and technologies. Review current information systems and propose enhancements for better data management efficiency. Test and maintain key modules in existing systems to ensure reliable data processing.
  • Data Quality Control and Analysis: Collaborate with program staff and partners to assess data quality, perform quality checks, and ensure timely collection of accurate data. Conduct data analysis to produce statistical reports and visualizations for informed decision-making.
  • Capacity Building and Technical Support: Assess the information management capacity of UNICEF and partners, provide technical support, and develop training materials to improve data practices.
  • Reporting and Visualization: Generate regular and ad hoc reports and dashboards to meet program and donor reporting needs.
  • Program Information Management Support: Develop user manuals and guidelines for data management, support indicator mapping, and provide ongoing technical support for data entry staff.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: A first university degree in Information Management, Information Systems, GIS, Information Technologies, Computer Science, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field is required.
  • Work Experience: At least 1 year of relevant experience in information management with the UN or other humanitarian organizations is required. Experience with data collection platforms like KoBo Toolbox, ODK, and Survey123 is essential. Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or Tableau is required. Ability to develop and maintain relational databases is necessary. Experience in social protection programming is an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a first university degree in a relevant field such as Information Management, Information Systems, GIS, Information Technologies, Computer Science, Statistics, or Social Sciences. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of data management and program monitoring.

Experience:
The position requires at least 1 year of relevant work experience in information management, particularly within the UN or humanitarian sectors. Candidates should have hands-on experience with data collection platforms and data analysis tools, demonstrating their ability to manage and analyze data effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset, enhancing communication capabilities within diverse teams and contexts.
