Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough review of both the old and new draft versions of The Gambia’s National Volunteer Policy documents.
Analyze the documents for policy gaps, overlaps, and inconsistencies in relation to the National Development Plan (NDP).
Incorporate relevant recommendations, emerging trends, and best practices in volunteer management and youth engagement into the policy.
Edit and refine the policy language to ensure it is clear, inclusive, and aligned with national priorities and UN values.
Prepare a final, consolidated version of the National Volunteer Policy that reflects the objectives of the NDP and incorporates stakeholder inputs.
Provide a brief summary report that highlights key revisions and the rationale behind the changes made to the policy.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and editing skills, with a background in policy development, volunteer management, or a related field. Familiarity with national development plans and frameworks is essential. The candidate should demonstrate an understanding of volunteerism and its role in development, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively convey policy recommendations and revisions.
Educational Background: A degree in social sciences, public policy, international development, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications in volunteer management or policy analysis will be considered favorably. A strong academic background that demonstrates an understanding of development issues and volunteerism is essential for this role.
Experience: Candidates should have prior experience in policy analysis, development, or volunteer management. Experience working with governmental or non-governmental organizations in a similar capacity will be advantageous.
