Job Overview: The Conformity and Risk Management Manager is responsible for leading the conformity department within Solidarités International. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with internal policies, donor regulations, and best practices. The manager will oversee the success of both external and internal audits and investigations, review projects for compliance, manage mission archiving, conduct due diligence on partners, and provide training on SI’s Ethical Framework. The position requires a proactive approach to risk management and compliance, ensuring that the organization adheres to its ethical standards while effectively managing its operations in a complex humanitarian context.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Conformity and Risk Management Manager include planning and maintaining a risk-based internal audit plan, conducting project internal financial audits, discussing findings with field coordinators, preparing reports with mitigation measures, and supporting the implementation of action plans. The manager will also carry out due diligence of partners, lead external audits, coordinate pre-audit documentation, and ensure compliance with donor regulations. Additionally, the manager will supervise the archiving process, guide the archivist, and develop archiving tools. The role involves disseminating good practices, minimizing risks of corruption and fraud, and leading investigations into any cases of misconduct.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Preferred qualifications include certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), CPA, or CMA. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to ethical standards. They should be detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities, and demonstrate professionalism and accountability in all interactions.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is required for this position. Additional certifications in auditing or finance are preferred and will enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in external audit, internal audit, or investigations, with at least 2 years in a similar role. Experience in internal control testing, risk identification, and root cause analysis is essential. Familiarity with the humanitarian or NGO sector is advantageous, as is knowledge of donor guidelines such as those from ECHO, OCHA, and USAID. Experience in supervising and mentoring a team is also required.
Languages: Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not specified as a requirement.
