Job Overview: The position of Chauffeur principal/ Conductrice principale at WFP involves ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of authorized personnel and goods. The role is critical in supporting the operational needs of the organization, particularly in facilitating the movement of high-ranking officials and visitors. The chauffeur is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity while adhering to the organization's safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security regulations. The position requires a proactive approach to planning and scheduling transport services, as well as effective communication with team members and stakeholders. The chauffeur will also be responsible for vehicle maintenance and ensuring compliance with local regulations, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency of WFP's operations in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Chauffeur principal/ Conductrice principale will be responsible for the following duties:
Transporting WFP senior officials, UN dignitaries, and visitors safely and efficiently, while providing basic assistance with local customs and visa formalities.
Planning and scheduling transport routes and coordinating with other drivers to ensure efficient service delivery.
Supporting the fleet manager in the planning and management of transportation services.
Welcoming official personnel and visitors at airports or other entry points and assisting them with necessary formalities.
Keeping detailed records of vehicle maintenance and reporting daily mechanical status to the supervisor to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
Collecting fuel and maintaining accurate records of fuel consumption using designated applications.
Coordinating vehicle maintenance and ensuring all travel authorizations and mandatory equipment are in place.
Acting as a liaison for all drivers to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Reporting any issues to the supervisor and providing feedback to colleagues. 1
Adhering to safety regulations and reporting any incidents immediately to the supervisor. 1
Providing advice on transport-related activities, including vehicle acquisition and specifications. 1
Performing simple administrative tasks as needed, such as filing and archiving documents.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid driver's license that allows them to operate the assigned vehicle in compliance with local regulations. They should have a strong understanding of road safety rules and regulations, as well as the ability to navigate local routes effectively. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the principles of humanitarian work and possess a high level of integrity and professionalism. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential. Candidates should also be able to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively, demonstrating a sense of responsibility and courtesy.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary education. Candidates must have a valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle they will be operating, and they should be familiar with local traffic laws and regulations. Additional training in defensive driving or vehicle maintenance is considered an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience as a driver, preferably within an embassy, UN agency, or other international organization. Experience driving various types of vehicles, including vans and other motorized vehicles, is essential. A background in preventive driving techniques is also desirable, as is a proven track record of safe driving practices.
Languages: Fluency in French (level C) is mandatory, along with an intermediate level of English (level B). Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a Fixed-Term Appointment (FTA) at Grade 3, with an initial contract duration of one year, subject to renewal based on performance and organizational needs.
