Job Overview: The Reintegration Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the return and reintegration of migrant returnees under the framework of IOM’s Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration program. This position requires a proactive individual who can assist in various aspects of the reintegration process, including providing support to returnees, coordinating with relevant authorities and partners, and maintaining accurate records of reintegration activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Reintegration Officer and the project team to develop and implement effective reintegration projects, ensuring that returnees receive the necessary assistance to reintegrate successfully into their communities. The role also involves data management and reporting, which are essential for monitoring the progress of reintegration efforts and addressing any inconsistencies that may arise during the process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the reintegration process of returnees from European and African countries.
Provide general assistance to the Reintegration Officer and the project team in the development and implementation of listening and speaking sessions and reintegration projects.
Establish and maintain a statistical table with continuous updates on returns under monitoring.
Communicate monthly statistical tables to the hierarchy for follow-up on service charges, including proposals to resolve inconsistencies on the MiMOSA platform.
Support the supervisor and procurement unit in obtaining pro forma invoices from potential suppliers.
Assist returnees in obtaining reintegration assistance.
Support the supervisor in carrying out administrative, financial, and procurement tasks related to reintegration assistance in accordance with the organization's internal procedures.
Create and maintain a filing system for receipts and records, verifying, filing, and updating them as necessary.
Assist in coordinating migrant assistance operations with relevant authorities, partners, and service providers. 1
Conduct periodic field visits to assist in setting up and monitoring projects for Senegalese returnees. 1
Perform all other tasks as assigned within the Unit.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in law, sociology, or a related field from a recognized academic institution, along with three years of relevant experience in the field of return and reintegration. Alternatively, candidates with a certificate of completion of secondary education and five years of professional experience in related fields will also be considered. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of migration issues and the reintegration process, as well as the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in law, sociology, or a related field from a recognized academic institution. Candidates with a secondary education certificate and extensive professional experience in related fields may also be considered. It is essential that the educational qualifications are from accredited institutions recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that the candidate has received a quality education relevant to the position.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in the field of return and reintegration, particularly in assisting actions with other implementing partners. Professional experience in the effective application of migration, cooperation, and development knowledge within the context of an international organization is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience in data management and analysis, as well as familiarity with using the MiMOSA platform for reporting purposes. Experience in the reintegration of vulnerable migrants will be considered an advantage, as it demonstrates the candidate's ability to address the unique challenges faced by this population.
Languages: Fluency in French, both oral and written, is required for all applicants. A working knowledge of English is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders. Additionally, having a working knowledge of local languages is desirable, as it can enhance interactions with returnees and local communities, fostering better understanding and support during the reintegration process.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, meaning that only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Senegal will be eligible for consideration. The appointment will be contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and necessary authorizations by the concerned government, where applicable. The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for a period of 24 months.
