Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Field Security Associate (Training) position is located within the Department of Safety and Security of Ukraine, specifically administered by UNDP and financed by the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS). The role involves assisting in the conduction of security training in Ukraine under the supervision of the Training Coordinator and the Deputy Chief Security Adviser. The position requires a proactive approach to planning, organizing, and delivering various security training courses, including Safe and Secure Approaches in Field Environment (SSAFE), Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK), Emergency Trauma Bag (ETB), and Women Security Awareness Training (WSAT). The Field Security Associate will also be responsible for maintaining training repositories, preparing training packages, and conducting assessments. This role is crucial in ensuring that UN personnel are well-prepared for security challenges in the field, thereby contributing to the overall safety and security of UN operations in Ukraine.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Security Associate (Training) will have a range of responsibilities, including:
  • Security Trainings Coordination and Delivery: Planning, organizing, and delivering security training courses; providing administrative and logistical support; liaising with training managers; preparing training aids; coordinating with other trainers; maintaining training repositories; conducting in-person training; and preparing monthly training reports.
  • Monitor Security Information and Coordination: Assisting in collecting and communicating security information; liaising with host government security organizations; assessing security situations; and providing security advice to UN agencies.
  • Assist in Security Planning and Monitoring: Maintaining and updating the Security Plan; supporting the implementation of security measures; reporting security incidents; and preparing security reports.
  • Monitor Security Compliance: Conducting security evaluations; advising on residential security measures; maintaining liaison with security companies; and administering a pass and ID system.
  • General Administrative Support: Maintaining confidential correspondence files; arranging appointments; and taking minutes at meetings. The incumbent will also perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of secondary education, with a university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in Political Science, Military Studies, Security Management, Management, or a relevant field being preferred. Applicable security, police, or military training is desirable. Candidates must possess solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and must hold a valid driver’s license (category B, C1) within Ukraine. Additionally, prior experience in conducting IFAK or ETB training, supporting or conducting other security training, and familiarity with the UN system or international NGOs is highly desirable. Certification from UNDSS as a Field Security Associate is also preferred.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have at least secondary education, with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political Science, Military Studies, Security Management, or Management being advantageous. While a university degree is not mandatory, it is given due consideration. Relevant security, police, or military training is also desirable, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience in safety and security management or security training in public or private security service areas for candidates with secondary education. For those with a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience is required. This experience should ideally include conducting security training and working in safety and security management roles.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Ukrainian is required for this position. Knowledge of Russian is considered desirable, as it may enhance communication and effectiveness in the role, particularly in a diverse working environment where multiple languages are spoken.

The contract for this position may be extended based on the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and the continuing need for the post. The role is locally administered by UNDP and is part of a broader effort to ensure the safety and security of UN personnel in Ukraine.
