Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The Office of the Special Coordinator on Improving the United Nations Response to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OSCSEA) is dedicated to enhancing the accountability and transparency of the United Nations' response to sexual exploitation and abuse. The organization works closely with various UN offices, departments, funds, and programs, as well as other implementing partners, to strengthen efforts in peacekeeping, humanitarian, development, and human rights sectors. OSCSEA aims to support the Secretary-General's ongoing initiatives and leadership in addressing these critical issues.

Job Overview:
The intern position at OSCSEA is designed for individuals who are motivated and data-savvy, with a focus on enhancing data analysis and visualization capabilities. The intern will work under the supervision of a staff member and will be involved in various tasks aimed at improving the organization's response strategies related to sexual exploitation and abuse. This role is crucial for supporting OSCSEA's reporting and prevention efforts, as well as contributing to strategic decision-making processes. The intern will engage in cleaning and organizing raw data, performing qualitative and quantitative analyses, and developing dashboards and visualizations to communicate findings effectively. Additionally, the intern will assist in drafting materials that support advocacy and communication strategies, as well as participate in projects related to data coordination and knowledge sharing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: cleaning and organizing raw data related to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA); performing qualitative and quantitative data analysis, including trend analysis; developing and improving dashboards and data visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Verint, and Excel; drafting visual storytelling materials, infographics, and presentations; supporting ongoing projects related to system-wide SEA data coordination; analyzing gaps in iReport and collating recommendations for enhancing data collection; engaging in brainstorming sessions to improve internal data workflows; supporting the analysis and dissemination of results from the annual system-wide survey on PSEA; providing general office support services; and undertaking other responsibilities as required.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). No prior working experience is required, but applicants should possess skills and knowledge that would benefit the United Nations during their internship.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a strong educational background, either in a graduate program or in the final year of an undergraduate program. This educational experience should ideally be related to fields that align with the work of the United Nations, such as international relations, data analysis, social sciences, or related disciplines.

Experience:
While no formal working experience is required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant training, education, or coursework that would contribute to their effectiveness in the role. The emphasis is on the ability to apply academic knowledge to practical situations within the United Nations framework.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is desirable, and familiarity with another UN language is considered an advantage. This linguistic capability is essential for effective communication within the diverse environment of the UN.
