Job Overview:
The position of Social Media Influencer at UNICEF Uganda is designed to enhance the organization's visibility and engagement through strategic partnerships with social media influencers. The influencer will play a crucial role in creating authentic and compelling content that aligns with UNICEF's brand values and advocacy goals. This role is essential for maintaining a strong digital presence, especially in light of evolving trends in social media and the need for rapid content creation during campaigns. The influencer will be responsible for maximizing their unique voice and reach to engage diverse audiences, particularly younger demographics, and will work closely with UNICEF's communication team to ensure that all content adheres to brand standards and safeguarding policies. The overarching goal is to support advocacy for children's rights and produce effective digital content that resonates with both local and global audiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Social Media Influencer will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
  • Creating, producing, and posting all agreed-upon content according to a specified schedule and guidelines.
  • Ensuring consistency and continuity of messaging across various campaigns while adhering to UNICEF's safeguarding guidelines.
  • Engaging with audiences to increase advocacy impact on children's rights, health, education, and protection issues through creative content.
  • Responding quickly to emerging issues, campaigns, or crises by being readily available for content creation and dissemination.
  • Producing high-quality, innovative digital content that aligns with global standards while reflecting local context and trends.
  • Driving engagement by achieving an average engagement rate of at least 3% across all contracted posts.
  • Increasing brand awareness through considerable impressions and views on shared content.
  • Traveling to the field with the UNICEF Communication team as needed for media field visits, donor missions, campaign launches, and press conferences.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a diploma or equivalent in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media Studies, Digital Media, Public Relations, or related fields. Relevant certifications in social media management, content creation, digital marketing, or multimedia production are considered advantageous. Candidates should have a proven track record as a social media influencer or digital communicator with measurable audience engagement, experience managing social media campaigns, and the ability to create high-quality multimedia content across various platforms. Familiarity with analytics and reporting metrics is essential, along with excellent creativity and innovation. Previous engagement with a UN agency is a plus, and fluency in English is required, with knowledge of another local language being an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates are expected to have a diploma or equivalent in relevant fields such as Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media Studies, Digital Media, or Public Relations. Additional certifications in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing will enhance a candidate's profile and are highly regarded.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a proven track record as a social media influencer or content creator, demonstrating measurable audience engagement. Experience in managing social media campaigns, including content planning, creation, posting, and performance monitoring, is crucial. Candidates should also have experience collaborating with brands, NGOs, or government organizations for advocacy or campaign initiatives. A demonstrated ability to create high-quality multimedia content for various social media platforms is essential, along with experience in analytics and reporting.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is key to engaging diverse audiences. Knowledge of an additional local language is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's ability to connect with a broader audience.
