Job Overview:
The National Professional Officer position focuses on supporting the WHO's Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) program in Egypt. The role involves developing and implementing health projects related to NCDs, mental health, and nutrition, particularly for vulnerable populations. The officer will work closely with the Ministry of Health and other partners to ensure effective program execution. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying health-related issues and addressing them through integrated primary healthcare strategies. The officer will also be responsible for data collection and analysis to inform decision-making and improve health services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of NCDs, mental health, and nutrition projects at the country office.
  • Identify priority health-related issues among targeted populations and ensure they are addressed through an integrated primary healthcare approach.
  • Conduct follow-ups with the Ministry of Health and other partners to ensure timely implementation of program activities.
  • Review program reports, proposals, and other relevant documents, providing recommendations for best practices.
  • Compile materials for capacity building of key units within the Primary Health Care (PHC) directorate and health personnel at the PHC level.
  • Undertake regular field visits to attend health coordination meetings.
  • Contribute to the implementation of NCDs, mental health, and nutrition activities planned for crisis response.
  • Support data collection, compilation, and analysis related to the aforementioned areas to generate evidence-based information for decision-making and program reorientation.

Required Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include a first-level university degree in public health. An advanced degree (Master's) in public health is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and proactively, possess good knowledge of health rights in the context of Egypt, and have a sound understanding of WHO's mandate in emergency management. Strong presentation skills and the ability to work in multidisciplinary settings are also required.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold at least a first-level university degree in public health. An advanced degree, such as a Master's in public health, is considered an asset and is desirable for this position.

Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience in the health sector or public health-related areas is essential. Experience working with UN agencies or national and international NGOs in relevant fields is considered an asset and will enhance a candidate's application.

Languages:
Expert knowledge of English and Arabic is essential for this position. Proficiency in both languages is necessary to effectively communicate and engage with stakeholders and partners in the health sector.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as a National Professional Officer role, meaning only applications from nationals of Egypt will be accepted. The remuneration package includes an annual base salary starting at USD 30,175, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Employees are entitled to 30 days of annual leave.
