Job Overview:
The Associate position within the EBRD's Policy and Partnerships division is designed for individuals who will work closely with the Regional Policy and Strategy (RPS) team, specifically focusing on the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Region (SEMED). The primary purpose of this role is to support the Bank's transition mandate by engaging in various priority policy and thematic areas relevant to the region. The Associate will be expected to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, contributing to a coherent and holistic policy agenda across all areas of the Bank's focus. This role involves a combination of analytical work, project management, and policy dialogue, with a particular emphasis on the green economy transition, climate change, sustainability, and economic governance. The Associate will play a crucial role in monitoring macroeconomic performance, assessing structural reforms, and supporting the development of country strategies and diagnostics.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate will have a diverse range of accountabilities and responsibilities, including but not limited to: supporting the monitoring and assessment of growth and reform progress in the SEMED region; assisting in the development and implementation of policy dialogue workstreams in areas such as green transition, climate change, sustainability, economic governance, competitiveness, human capital, digitalisation, and capital markets development; participating as a team member in transactions or projects, taking responsibility for tasks related to investments, policy initiatives, or analytical assignments; supporting the delivery of specific investments and preparing comprehensive analytical assessments in line with the EBRD's green strategy; monitoring and analyzing macroeconomic performance and risks; assessing structural reform progress in the region to inform key Bank products; preparing country diagnostics and strategies; conducting background research on macroeconomic and sectoral developments; drafting briefings, presentations, and analytical pieces; and supporting the preparation of regular growth forecasts and long-term macroeconomic scenarios for financial modeling.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Associate position must demonstrate a strong motivation and commitment to the EBRD's transition agenda. They should possess relevant education at least to degree level in fields such as economics, development policy, industrial business, engineering, environmental sciences, or energy economics, or have comparable professional experience. Additionally, candidates should have experience contributing to project management and working within multi-disciplinary teams, familiarity with emerging markets and transition economies, and knowledge of climate-change and sustainability-related policies. Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to convey complex policy and technical issues to diverse stakeholders both verbally and in writing. Candidates should also be proficient in advanced computer applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in economics, development policy, industrial business, engineering, environmental sciences, environmental or energy economics, commerce, or a related field.
