Job Overview:
The National Consultant for WakaWell Content Mapping will play a crucial role in gathering verified information on migration procedures relevant to young people in Egypt. The consultant will be responsible for preparing answers to frequently asked questions regarding safe and regular migration journeys, identifying local partners, initiatives, and volunteering opportunities that can assist young migrants in making informed decisions. The consultant will utilize existing online resources as a foundation to create tailored content that meets the specific needs of Egyptian youth interested in migration. This position requires a deep understanding of migration dynamics in Egypt and the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Arabic, as the content will be produced in both languages. The consultant will work closely with the IOM team and will be expected to deliver high-quality, accurate, and up-to-date information that empowers young people to make safe migration choices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: researching and writing answers to questions related to Egypt as a departure country and its main destination countries; compiling brief descriptions of resources, organizations, and local volunteer networks that support migrants; verifying the accuracy and functionality of all collected information through direct communication methods such as phone calls and emails; preparing content in both English and Arabic; participating in inception meetings with the project team; submitting a work plan and schedule; and revising information based on feedback from IOM. The consultant will also be responsible for proposing recommendations to enhance the website's usability and ensuring that all deliverables are submitted on time and meet quality standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Research, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Humanities, Communications, or a related field, along with at least three years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a University degree in the aforementioned fields with an additional two years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Proven experience in research and analysis, as well as demonstrated writing competency in both English and Arabic, is essential. A good grasp of migration dynamics in Egypt is required, and experience in media and behavior change communications, as well as working with international organizations, is considered an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Research, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Humanities, or Communications. Candidates with a University degree in these areas, combined with additional relevant professional experience, will also be considered. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of migration and for effectively communicating with diverse audiences.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have proven experience in research and analysis, particularly in the context of migration. Candidates should demonstrate high competency as a writer in both English and Arabic, showcasing their ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively. A solid understanding of migration dynamics in Egypt is essential, and prior experience in media and behavior change communications will be beneficial. Additionally, experience working with international organizations will be viewed favorably, as it indicates familiarity with the operational frameworks and challenges faced in the field of migration.

Languages:
Fluency in English, French, and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in English is particularly important for effective communication with the WakaWell project team. The IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and candidates will be evaluated on their language skills during the selection process, which may involve written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy position does not require travel. Candidates should be aware that any offer made is subject to funding confirmation. The appointment will also depend on the candidate's medical fitness for the role, verification of residency, visa, and necessary authorizations from the relevant government authorities. IOM provides coverage for consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under its Compensation Plan, free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. However, consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses and must provide proof of such coverage before starting work. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct that contradicts the organization's aims and objectives, including discrimination and harassment.
