Job Overview: The Strategy Implementation Officer will play a crucial role within the Malaria R&D team, focusing on the planning and management of the product pipeline and portfolio related to malaria eradication efforts. This position involves collaboration with technical teams to ensure that product strategies are aligned with the overarching goals of malaria eradication, which includes the development of drugs, diagnostics, vaccines, and innovative vector control methods. The officer will be responsible for maintaining a balanced portfolio of product candidates, monitoring their progress, and ensuring that they meet the necessary criteria for success. This role also requires synthesizing information for strategic discussions and facilitating communication across various teams and external partners. The position is based in Seattle and may involve travel up to 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties of the Strategy Implementation Officer include collaborating with the technical team to develop and optimize long-term R&D portfolio strategies, maintaining an overview of decision points and resource needs, and working with internal and external partners to implement target product profiles and integrated product development plans. The officer will also identify and assess risks at both the portfolio and product levels, develop mitigation plans, and conduct quantitative analyses to support strategic decision-making. Additionally, the officer will contribute to the broader Malaria Strategy, Planning, and Management team by providing analytics and thought partnership to support resource allocation decisions and developing high-quality communication materials for executive leadership.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a STEM field, with an advanced degree (PhD, MPH) or equivalent experience being preferred. A minimum of 7 years of experience in pharma and life sciences R&D strategy and operations is required, ideally within a pharmaceutical, life sciences, or AgChem company, or a top-tier management consulting firm. Candidates should have a strong understanding of product development stages, including clinical trials and regulatory approval processes, and familiarity with industry practices such as target product profile development and integrated product planning. Critical thinking skills, the ability to work independently in unstructured environments, and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding advanced degrees such as a PhD or MPH. This educational foundation should provide candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of R&D strategy and implementation in the context of malaria eradication efforts.
