Job Overview:
The Senior Program Officer, Digital Health and AI will play a pivotal role in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into HIV prevention and treatment programs, with a particular emphasis on self-care innovations and enhancing the performance of tuberculosis (TB) programs. This position is crucial for shaping investment strategies, forging partnerships, and designing pathways that facilitate the transition of AI-driven solutions from initial proof-of-concept stages to sustainable, large-scale implementations. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including Foundation teams, country partners, and global entities, to develop and deploy AI solutions that enhance HIV self-care, improve service delivery, and expand access to care for underserved populations. This position offers a unique opportunity to redefine the future of HIV self-care by embedding AI and digital health solutions into prevention and treatment programs, directly influencing how AI can strengthen HIV/TB delivery and build resilient health systems in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and operationalize the Foundation’s digital health and AI strategy for HIV and TB, focusing on self-care, consumer-facing applications, program performance, and program intelligence.
• Define high-priority AI use cases for HIV/TB programs, including digital adherence support, stigma-free conversational agents, provider decision support, and real-time surveillance systems.
• Align HIV/TB AI efforts with the Foundation’s broader AI Taskforce and Core AI strategy to ensure program relevance and technical coherence.
• Design and scale AI-enabled self-care models that empower individuals in HIV and TB prevention, testing, and treatment adherence.
• Manage a portfolio of AI and digital health investments for HIV/TB, ensuring impact, scalability, and alignment with global health priorities.
• Establish evaluation frameworks, regulatory pathways, and ethical safeguards for AI in HIV and TB self-care.
• Build and maintain partnerships with governments, NGOs, funders, academic institutions, and private sector innovators to advance responsible AI adoption in HIV programs.
• Identify, test, and scale AI solutions that address workforce shortages, service delivery gaps, and stigma-related barriers in HIV/TB care.
• Stay updated on technological advancements to ensure HIV/TB programming benefits from innovative yet context-appropriate solutions. 1

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in Public Health, Medicine, Computer/Data Science, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of experience in global health, digital health, or AI is required, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in HIV prevention and treatment. Proven experience in designing, evaluating, or scaling digital or AI tools in low- and middle-income countries is essential. Familiarity with AI/ML applications in healthcare, product development, and regulatory considerations is also necessary. Candidates should demonstrate a deep understanding of the challenges faced by global HIV/TB programs in LMIC contexts and possess the ability to influence technical, program, and policy stakeholders. The salary range for this position is between $208,600 to $323,400 USD, with higher ranges for positions based in Seattle and Washington D.C. New hires typically start between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range, depending on their skills, experience, and expertise.
