Job Overview:
The Associate Operations Officer will play a crucial role in generating and implementing upstream and advisory engagements in the South Asia region. This position is integral to the South Asia FIG Upstream and Advisory Services team, which focuses on delivering expert advice and thought leadership to clients, enhancing access to finance in priority markets. The jobholder will be responsible for designing and supporting the delivery of client upstream and advisory services solutions that align with country and thematic mandates. This includes contributing to knowledge sharing and capacity building initiatives. The role requires active participation in project management, including managing external consultants, overseeing project budgets, and ensuring quality execution of projects. The jobholder will also engage in thematic areas such as digital finance, risk management, and climate finance, supporting the delivery of knowledge transfer sessions and diagnostics with clients. The position demands strong communication skills to interact effectively with middle-senior management of banks and other stakeholders, as well as the ability to draft concise and well-organized documents and reports.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the Associate Operations Officer include:
  • Providing input to the design and support delivery of client upstream and advisory services solutions that operationalize country and thematic mandates.
  • Participating in the implementation and/or project management of client solutions, including managing external consultants and overseeing project execution.
  • Leading project management and oversight of projects in Bangladesh, ensuring quality and consistency of approach.
  • Supporting the delivery of knowledge transfer sessions and acting as a technical resource for project executions.
  • Designing pitch materials for business development and thematic proposals.
  • Supporting country priority initiatives linked to innovation and inclusion.
  • Gathering information on best practices and emerging trends to create new knowledge products.
  • Providing organizational support for knowledge sharing forums and conferences.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include:
  • A Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a professional equivalent such as CFA or CPA.
  • At least 8-10 years of work experience in digital financial services and/or risk management within the private sector.
  • Knowledge in climate finance and climate risk management is an added advantage.
  • Experience in operational process reengineering, including digitization.
  • Strong understanding of sector drivers, business and market development cycles, and performance measurement within a sector.
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients and stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism and responsiveness.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills to influence clients and stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the ability to learn new systems quickly. Familiarity with project management systems is a plus.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Economics, or a professional equivalent such as CFA or CPA. This advanced education is essential to equip the candidate with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform effectively in the role.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for this position is significant, with a requirement of at least 8-10 years of work experience in relevant fields such as digital financial services and risk management. This experience should ideally be within the private sector, demonstrating a strong understanding of the operational and strategic aspects of financial services.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, with fluency required for effective communication. Additionally, proficiency in Bengali is mandatory, as it is essential for interacting with local stakeholders and clients. Knowledge of other languages may be considered a plus but is not explicitly required.
