Job Overview:
The position of International or Regional Consultant for Integrated Economic and Gender Analysis is focused on conducting a comprehensive analysis of adaptation and mitigation actions in Guinea-Bissau. The consultant will be responsible for integrating economic and gender perspectives into the analysis, ensuring that the findings are relevant and actionable for policymakers. This role requires a deep understanding of gender issues in economic contexts, as well as the ability to analyze data and provide insights that can inform strategic decisions. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and other stakeholders to gather data, conduct interviews, and synthesize findings into a coherent report. The assignment is expected to last for 35 working days within a period of 3 months, and the consultant will need to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in their approach to meet the project’s objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting a thorough review of existing literature and data related to economic and gender issues in Guinea-Bissau; engaging with local stakeholders to gather qualitative insights; analyzing economic data to identify trends and impacts of adaptation and mitigation actions; integrating gender analysis into economic assessments; preparing detailed reports that outline findings and recommendations; presenting findings to UNDP and other stakeholders; and ensuring that all work aligns with UNDP’s standards and methodologies. The consultant will also be expected to provide ongoing support and guidance throughout the project, facilitating discussions and workshops as needed to enhance understanding and collaboration among stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in economics, gender studies, or a related field, with a proven track record of conducting integrated analyses. A deep understanding of the socio-economic context of Guinea-Bissau is essential, along with experience in working with international organizations or NGOs. The consultant should have excellent analytical skills, the ability to synthesize complex information, and strong communication skills to effectively convey findings to diverse audiences. Familiarity with UNDP’s operational procedures and methodologies will be considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and sustainable development principles.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master’s degree in economics, gender studies, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in gender analysis or economic development will be highly regarded. Candidates should also have a strong academic background that supports their analytical capabilities and understanding of the relevant issues.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in economic analysis, gender studies, or a related field. Experience working in Guinea-Bissau or similar contexts is highly desirable. The consultant should have a history of successfully completing similar assignments, demonstrating the ability to deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines. Previous experience with UNDP or other UN agencies will be an advantage, as will experience in conducting stakeholder consultations and workshops.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all reports and communications will be conducted in this language. Proficiency in Portuguese or local languages spoken in Guinea-Bissau is highly desirable, as it will facilitate engagement with local stakeholders and enhance the quality of the analysis.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is for 35 working days over a period of 3 months. The consultant is expected to work remotely but may need to travel to Guinea-Bissau for stakeholder consultations if required. The position is part-time, and compensation will be based on the consultant's experience and the UNDP's established rates for similar roles.
