Job Overview:
The consultant will be responsible for designing and facilitating a one-day Staff Retreat for UNICEF Guinea-Bissau, aimed at strengthening team cohesion, enhancing understanding of office priorities, and renewing staff motivation. The retreat is part of a broader effort to respond to the findings of the 2024 Global Staff Survey, which highlighted the need for improvements in accountability, team building, workplace culture, and career support. The consultant will prepare an interactive agenda that includes sessions on teamwork, workplace well-being, sustainability, and recognition culture, ultimately fostering a supportive and high-performing office environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Workshop Preparation: Consult with the UNICEF team to prepare the retreat agenda, tools, and materials. Deliverables include a finalized agenda and available facilitation tools.
  • Retreat Facilitation: Conduct the one-day retreat, leading interactive sessions focused on team collaboration, workplace well-being, sustainability, and recognition culture. Deliverables include successful facilitation of the retreat.
  • Report Compilation: After the retreat, compile a report summarizing the proceedings, outcomes, and recommendations for follow-up actions. Deliverables include the final retreat report submitted within the specified timeframe.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in social sciences, management, or a closely related field. They should have 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in facilitating team-building and knowledge-sharing workshops. Excellent analytical, research, writing, and communication skills are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate full computer literacy and fluency in Portuguese and either French or English, both written and spoken.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in social sciences, management, or a closely related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of team dynamics and organizational behavior, which are essential for facilitating the retreat effectively.

Experience:
The position requires 5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience. Candidates should have a proven track record of facilitating workshops that focus on team building and knowledge sharing, as well as consultancy experience in similar contexts. Relevant experience in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts is highly valued.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, along with proficiency in either French or English, both written and spoken. This language requirement is essential for effective communication during the retreat and for understanding the diverse backgrounds of the participants.
