Job Overview:
The Education Officer will work under the supervision of the Education Specialist, providing professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for education programs/projects within the Country Programme. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities from development planning to the delivery of results, including preparing, executing, managing, and implementing various technical and administrative program tasks. The Education Officer will play a crucial role in coordinating interventions that support the 'Gouvernance' component/output of the Education and Skills programme, particularly in humanitarian settings. Additionally, the officer will provide technical support to the Ministry of Education and partners in implementing and scaling innovative educational initiatives, such as structured pedagogy, strengthening teacher support and guidance, and improving the learning environment. The position requires a proactive approach to program development, management, monitoring, and delivery of results, as well as networking and partnership building to enhance the effectiveness of educational initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Education Officer will be responsible for the following key functions:
  • Support to programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and the needs of the community.
  • Programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results, including tracking progress and evaluating the impact of educational initiatives.
  • Providing technical and operational support to programme implementation, ensuring that all activities are executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Networking and partnership building with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations to foster collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building, focusing on enhancing the skills and capabilities of local partners and stakeholders involved in education.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a university degree in education, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of two years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education. Fluency in French is required, and knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian, or Spanish) and a local language is considered an asset. Experience working in a developing country and relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization are also desirable qualifications.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a university degree in one of the following fields: education, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of educational programs and the needs of children and communities.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to effectively manage educational initiatives and contribute to the development and implementation of programs that support children's rights and educational needs.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian, or Spanish) and a local language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and communities.
