Job Overview:
This internship is designed to provide support for the implementation of gender parity strategies within UN Peacekeeping Operations. Interns will engage in various activities aimed at enhancing the participation of women in peacekeeping roles. The internship is flexible, allowing for remote work, in-person attendance in New York, or a hybrid approach. Interns are expected to work full-time (35 hours per week) but may request part-time arrangements (20 hours per week) for shorter periods.   • Interns will be involved in organizing events, drafting reports, maintaining online resources, and conducting research to support the UN's gender parity initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the organization and execution of online events and meetings; drafting, formatting, and editing reports and communication materials; maintaining an online information repository; collecting and analyzing data; attending events and providing insights through meeting notes; conducting research on relevant topics; and implementing activities that align with the Office's gender parity strategies. Interns will also be expected to perform other duties as required, contributing to the overall mission of promoting gender equality within UN Peacekeeping.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or be enrolled in or have completed the final year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, candidates should have a field of study closely related to the internship. Proficiency in standard word processing and spreadsheet software is essential, along with a demonstrated interest in the UN's work and the ability to interact with diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a degree in fields such as public policy, project management, political science, information management, public relations, communication, or data analysis. Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant degree program must be provided during the application process.

Experience:
While no prior professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant coursework or academic experience that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. This may include experience in research, event organization, or data analysis, which will be beneficial in fulfilling the internship duties effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations. Knowledge of additional UN official languages, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.
