Job Overview:
The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Human Rights Intern will support the OHCHR in its mission to protect and promote human rights for all individuals. The intern will report directly to the Deputy Chief or Chief of the Myanmar Team, and their daily responsibilities will vary based on their background and skills. The intern will engage in monitoring and analyzing developments related to human rights, politics, and conflict in Myanmar. They will also be responsible for researching and drafting internal and external notes and reports, including daily news updates on the human rights situation in the region. The intern will assist in engaging with UN human rights mechanisms, help organize workshops and seminars, and maintain information and resource tools. Participation in meetings and conferences, along with note-taking, will also be part of the intern's duties, as well as any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties will include monitoring and analyzing human rights developments in Myanmar, researching and drafting reports, preparing daily news updates, supporting engagement with UN human rights mechanisms, assisting in organizing workshops and seminars, maintaining information resources, participating in meetings, and performing additional tasks as requested by the supervisor. The intern will be expected to contribute to the overall mission of OHCHR by providing valuable insights and support in various capacities, ensuring that human rights are upheld and promoted effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must be students in their final year of a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program or have completed such programs. Additionally, the ability to draft news articles and social media posts is desirable, as is the ability to design factsheets and surveys.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program or be in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. This educational background should be closely related to the internship's focus on human rights, international relations, or a similar field. Proof of enrollment or completion will be required during the application process, and an official certificate must be provided later.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. This could include research projects, volunteer work, or other academic endeavors that demonstrate a commitment to human rights and related fields.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.
