Job Posting Organization: The Macroeconomic Policy and Financing for Development Division (MPFD) is part of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The division is dedicated to providing a combination of normative-analytical and capacity-development activities to its 53 member States and 9 associate members. The organization focuses on addressing the significant variations in geographic, demographic, and socioeconomic conditions across the region. ESCAP was established to promote economic and social development in the Asia-Pacific region, and it plays a crucial role in facilitating policy dialogues and conducting analytical studies to support member states in their development goals.

Interns will be engaged in a variety of tasks that support the division's mission to enhance the impact of its publications and events. The role involves assisting in the dissemination of information, developing strategic communication plans, and implementing digital outreach initiatives. Interns will work full-time, five days a week, for a minimum of three months, with the possibility of extending the internship up to six months. Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will have a diverse set of responsibilities, which may include: drafting and editing content for public information materials such as press releases, newsletters, blogs, and social media posts; producing social media plans and campaigns to enhance the visibility of the division's work; creating multimedia materials including infographics, motion graphics, short videos, and presentation templates; preparing professional PowerPoint presentations that highlight the division's projects and activities; assisting in video production tasks such as shooting and editing; organizing and executing the launch of publications and events; conducting background research for public information materials; and initiating and carrying out assigned tasks or special projects as directed by supervisors.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for the internship, candidates must meet specific criteria, including being enrolled in or having completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or being in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level). Candidates should have a background in communications, public information, or public policy. While computer literacy in standard software applications and familiarity with Adobe Creative Studio and Canva is desirable, it is not mandatory. A strong interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its ideals are essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and possess good drafting and oral communication skills.
Educational Background: Candidates should have completed or be currently enrolled in a relevant academic program. This includes graduate studies or the final year of an undergraduate program in fields such as communications, public information, public policy, or related areas. The educational background should provide a foundation for understanding the work of the United Nations and the specific functions of the MPFD.
Experience: No prior working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.
