Job Overview: The position is within the Office of Internal Audit and Investigations (OIAI), which reports to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Executive Director and is responsible for providing internal audit and investigation services to UNICEF. The role involves supporting the Investigations Section, particularly the Strategy, Intake and Analysis Unit (SIA), which focuses on quality assurance of reports, managing the hotline for reporting allegations, and conducting initial assessments. The intern will assist with the ingestion, processing, reporting, and review of electronic evidence into the e-Discovery application, as well as researching and developing solutions to automate case processing and business intelligence reports. The intern will also conduct open-source searches and carry out other tasks assigned by OIAI management. This role is crucial in ensuring the effectiveness of risk management and internal controls within UNICEF.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with the ingestion, processing, reporting, and review of electronic evidence into the e-Discovery application.
Research and develop solutions to automate the processing of eDiscovery evidence.
Research and develop solutions in the Microsoft Ecosystem to automate case processing.
Produce and automate business intelligence reports.
Conduct open-source searches.
Carry out other tasks as assigned by OIAI management.
Collaborate with investigations teams based in New York, Budapest, and Nairobi to support their investigative efforts.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in handling sensitive information.
Required Qualifications:
Graduated within the past two years or currently enrolled in a university or an Advanced Degree Program in an IT or data analytics related field.
0-2 years of experience with an eDiscovery application.
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of another UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, or Pashto) is an asset.
Excellent knowledge of MS Office and relevant computer systems (e.g., PowerShell, PowerBI, etc.).
Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively on multiple assignments simultaneously and adapt to changing requirements.
Educational Background: Candidates must have graduated within the last two years or be currently enrolled in a university or an Advanced Degree Program in a relevant field such as IT or data analytics. This educational background is essential to ensure that the intern possesses the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to contribute effectively to the Investigations Section.
Experience: The position requires 0-2 years of experience with an eDiscovery application. This level of experience is suitable for recent graduates or those who have had limited professional exposure to the field, allowing them to gain practical experience while contributing to the organization's mission.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another UN language such as French, Spanish, Arabic, or Pashto is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse international environment.
Additional Notes: The position is preferred to be in-person in New York, but remote work will be considered. It can be either part-time or full-time, with a tentative start date as soon as possible. The internship duration is 6 months and is paid. Candidates must provide proof of enrollment in a health/accident plan prior to starting the internship.
