Job Overview: The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Finance Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the financial management of the organization, ensuring the development, monitoring, and compliance of budgets, and producing high-quality financial reports for both management and donors. This role is pivotal in strategic financial planning, safeguarding the organization's resources, and providing financial insights to support program teams. The Finance Coordinator will manage daily financial operations, including payments, reconciliations, and accounting, while ensuring adherence to organizational financial policies and donor requirements. The position also involves managing cash flow and liquidity to facilitate program implementation and maintaining accurate financial records that are ready for audits. Furthermore, the Finance Coordinator will play a significant role in donor proposal preparations, ensuring that budgets align with organizational objectives and comply with donor regulations. This position requires a proactive approach to monitoring project spending and financial performance, as well as collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure financial integrity and transparency.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Coordinator will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: overseeing daily financial operations such as payments and reconciliations; ensuring compliance with financial policies and donor requirements; managing cash flow and liquidity; maintaining accurate financial records; tracking financial performance against budgets; guiding project managers in expense monitoring; supporting the preparation of grant budgets; coordinating with staff on budget development; reviewing donor agreements; monitoring project spending; preparing financial reports and invoices; assisting in budget revisions; collaborating with project managers on financial assessments; and ensuring that all financial reporting aligns with donor guidelines. The role also involves preparing and uploading budget codes in the financial system, supporting donor audits, and ensuring that all operations adhere to donor regulations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, audit, business administration, or a related field, with a Master’s degree being preferred. Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CIA are strongly preferred. Additionally, candidates should have at least 7 years of relevant experience in audit, compliance, or grants management, particularly with donor-funded NGOs. A strong understanding of donor regulations, experience in risk assessment, and internal control frameworks are essential. Excellent report writing, analytical, and communication skills are required, along with strong training and facilitation skills for staff and partners.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, audit, business administration, or a related field.
