Job Overview:
The internship opportunity is located in the Social Policy Section (SPS) of the Gender, Poverty and Social Development Policy Division (GPSPD) of ECA. The intern will engage in research and analytical work focused on youth entrepreneurship in Africa. This role involves participating in literature reviews, data analysis, and drafting content for publications related to youth entrepreneurship. The intern will work closely with the Chief of Section and the Director of GPSPD, contributing to the division's mission of promoting gender equality and social development. Regular meetings will be held to discuss work-related outcomes and progress on the agreed workplan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: participating in research and analysis on youth entrepreneurship; conducting literature reviews; assisting in data analysis and compiling information; generating statistical reports and databases; drafting content for publications such as policy briefs and case studies; organizing meetings and taking notes; participating in team meetings to provide updates; assisting in reporting processes; and engaging in other duties as assigned by the SPS responsible officer.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet specific criteria: they should be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor's degree. While professional experience is not required, a field of study related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must be computer literate, particularly in MS Office, and possess knowledge of data analysis and econometrics. A demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and the ability to interact with diverse cultural backgrounds are also essential qualifications.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in their final year of a bachelor's degree, or enrolled in a master's or Ph.D. program, or have completed such programs. This educational background should be closely related to the internship's focus on social policy and youth entrepreneurship.

Experience:
No prior professional work experience is required for this internship. However, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position, particularly in social policy, economics, or related fields.

Languages:
The working languages of UNECA are English and French. For this internship, proficiency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of French is considered desirable, enhancing communication within the organization.
