Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located in the Office of the Director of the Gender, Poverty and Social Policy Division (GPSPD) of the ECA in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The intern will work under the supervision of the Director and will engage in various functions related to research and analysis on youth employment in Africa. This includes participating in data analyses, literature reviews, drafting content for publications, and assisting in organizing meetings. The intern will also be involved in reporting processes and will have regular meetings to discuss work-related outcomes. The internship is expected to last for three months, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to the mission of promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in Africa.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: participating in research and analytical work on youth employment in Africa; cooperating in identifying and compiling information; generating statistical and summary reports, tables, charts, and databases on youth employment themes; drafting content for publications such as studies, reports, policy briefs, papers, fact sheets, and infographics; organizing and convening meetings, including preparations and note-taking; participating in team and division meetings to share information; assisting colleagues in providing updates on implementation of deliverables; and engaging in other duties as assigned by the SPS responsible officer.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Additionally, applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications (MS-Office), have knowledge of data analysis and proficiency in econometrics, and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations. A personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter and the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds are also required.
Educational Background: Applicants must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or they must have completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. program. A field of study closely related to the internship is required, ensuring that candidates have the necessary academic background to contribute effectively to the work of the ECA.
Experience: While professional work experience is not required for this internship, applicants should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position.
