Job Overview: The National Project Supervision Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and managing specific projects under the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) in Lebanon. This role involves ensuring that project objectives are met within the stipulated time frame and budget. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders, including government entities, local communities, and international partners, to facilitate project implementation and monitor progress. The position requires a strong understanding of project management principles, as well as the ability to adapt to the dynamic context of development work in Lebanon. The specialist will also be expected to provide technical guidance and support to project teams, ensuring compliance with UNDP policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the implementation of project activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
Coordinate with the CDR and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate project execution.
Monitor project progress and prepare regular reports on project status, challenges, and achievements.
Provide technical assistance and guidance to project teams, ensuring adherence to UNDP standards and best practices.
Conduct field visits to assess project implementation and gather feedback from beneficiaries.
Identify risks and challenges in project execution and propose mitigation strategies.
Facilitate communication and collaboration among project stakeholders to enhance project outcomes.
Ensure that project documentation is maintained accurately and is readily accessible.
Participate in capacity-building initiatives for local partners and stakeholders. 1
Contribute to the development of project proposals and funding applications as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in project management, particularly in the context of development projects.
Strong understanding of the socio-economic and political landscape in Lebanon.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
Ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with UNDP policies and procedures is an asset.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in project management, international development, public administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred and may be considered an advantage.
Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in project management, with a focus on development projects. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion is essential.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory. Knowledge of French or other languages is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's profile.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is 30 working days spread over a period of 5 months from the date of contract signature. This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and candidates are expected to submit their proposals directly through the UNDP supplier portal.
