Job Overview:
The consultancy position involves writing and editing for the UNICEF director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Executive Director’s Annual Report (EDAR) for the year 202
  • This role is critical as it will summarize the achievements, trends, and challenges affecting children, which will be presented to the Executive Board in June 202
  • The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Chief of Strategic Planning and Corporate Analysis, engaging in synthesizing information from various sources and collaborating with different organizational units. The consultant is expected to adhere to UNICEF's editorial standards and timelines, ensuring high-quality communication and effective written content. The position is home/office-based and offers flexibility in work arrangements, allowing for remote work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's primary responsibilities include drafting and editing the 2025 EDAR document package. Key deliverables include:
  • Producing the first draft of the EDAR by 23 February 2026, which involves synthesizing information and ensuring compliance with UNICEF's style and communication standards.
  • Finalizing the EDAR package by 30 April 2026, which includes editing and refining the document based on feedback and additional inputs.
  • Collaborating with various organizational units to gather necessary information and insights for the report.
  • Ensuring that all deliverables meet the required standards and are submitted on time. The consultant will also be responsible for maintaining clear communication with the supervisor and other stakeholders throughout the assignment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in English, Communication, Public Relations, Media, Journalism, Liberal Arts, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in writing and/or editing in English is required. Experience with UNICEF's Strategic Plan reporting or similar roles in international organizations is considered an asset. The consultant must demonstrate an excellent command of the English language, possess strong attention to detail, and have the ability to create succinct and persuasive text. High standards for effective written communication are essential for this role.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this consultancy position is a university degree in English, Communication, Public Relations, Media, Journalism, Liberal Arts, or a related field. This educational background is crucial as it provides the necessary skills and knowledge for effective writing and editing, which are central to the responsibilities of the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant experience in writing and/or editing, particularly in English.
