Job Posting Organization: The CALP Network is a dynamic global network comprising over 90 organizations that are engaged in the critical areas of policy, practice, and research in humanitarian cash and voucher assistance (CVA) and broader financial assistance. Established in 2005, CALP aims to maximize the potential of humanitarian CVA to help people in crisis contexts. The organization collaborates with a diverse range of members, including local and international NGOs, UN agencies, the Red Cross/Crescent Movement, donors, and academic institutions, to generate alignment in approaches and actions to optimize the quality and scale of humanitarian CVA. CALP's mission is to enable individuals to overcome crises with dignity by exercising choice and self-determination, and it plays a key role in fostering dialogue, generating evidence, and promoting good practices within the humanitarian community.
Job Overview: The Regional Representative is responsible for maintaining and developing a thriving network that creates impact by convening, facilitating, and harnessing diverse voices. This role is pivotal in furthering CALP's strategic aims and delivering on commitments to members and the wider humanitarian community. The representative will lead policy engagement in the region, establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, and strategically lead CALP's work in the region. This includes managing a regional program portfolio, developing fundraising opportunities, and contributing to organizational development. The representative will also be accountable for network development and will play a significant role in mobilizing membership and promoting CALP's work through various channels, including social media.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Networking and Policy Engagement: Lead on policy engagement in the region; establish and maintain spheres of influence among CVA actors; strengthen strategic relationships and partnerships; convene members to identify key issues and explore emerging trends; enable working group development and co-create events; utilize social media for engagement and promotion.
Programme Management: Strategically lead CALP's work in the region; accountable for network development and regional program portfolio; drive strategic opportunities for collective action.
Fundraising and Grant Management: Develop regionally based fundraising opportunities; manage donor relationships and oversee grant management; manage hosting relationships at the regional level.
Organizational Development: Contribute to collective leadership; provide management support and foster personal development of team members; ensure cross-fertilization of ideas across CALP's work.
Required Qualifications: Essential qualifications include at least five to seven years of senior management experience in an aid context, including strategy development and representation. A Master's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant technical field is required, along with experience in networking and influencing senior actors in the humanitarian system. Candidates must have a strong understanding of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) in a humanitarian context, excellent communication skills in English, and experience with major humanitarian donor grant management. Desirable qualifications include proficiency in French and/or Portuguese and experience leading inter-agency initiatives.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate technical field. Equivalent levels of professional experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five to seven years of senior management experience, particularly in strategy development, planning, delivery, and representation within an aid context. Experience in networking and engaging with senior actors across the humanitarian system is essential, as is a detailed understanding of the regional contexts, particularly Somalia, Sudan, and South Sudan.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Proficiency in French and/or Portuguese is considered desirable but not essential.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and is classified as a fixed-term national contract with potential for extension. The role is hosted by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and is classified at grade 10 on NRC's national salary scale. The position requires travel up to 40% within targeted project locations. Candidates must have the legal right to work in Kenya, as NRC will not sponsor visa processes.
