Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has been operational in South Sudan for over 30 years, focusing on building government institutions and supporting the country through significant challenges. Established with the formation of the independent Republic of South Sudan in July 2011, UNDP has maintained a flexible approach to its work with the government, aiming to foster peace, reconciliation, and sustainable development. UNDP collaborates with various stakeholders, including the Transitional Government of National Unity, NGOs, civil society, and the private sector, to achieve its mission of creating resilient communities and empowering marginalized groups.

Job Overview:
The M&E Volunteer position is designed to support the Peace and Community Cohesion (PaCC) project, which aims to reduce conflict and insecurity in South Sudan. The volunteer will work under the supervision of the PaCC Programme Manager and will be responsible for reviewing the M&E framework, designing M&E tools, and developing a robust field monitoring system. This role is crucial for enhancing the project's impact by ensuring effective data collection and analysis, which will inform decision-making and improve project outcomes. The volunteer will engage in discussions to refine baseline and performance indicators, develop user-friendly reporting tools, and create a data collection protocol tailored to the online M&E system.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The M&E Volunteer will undertake several key responsibilities, including: (i) Reviewing the PaCC M&E framework to ensure it aligns with project goals; (ii) Discussing and supporting the review of baseline and performance indicators to measure project success; (iii) Designing M&E tools, which includes developing an online M&E system for data collection, verification, and compilation; (iv) Creating practical and user-friendly reporting tools to capture both qualitative and quantitative data; (v) Developing a data collection protocol that is adapted for the online system; (vi) Providing guidance on the implementation of these tools to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation processes are in place.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the M&E Volunteer position should possess a strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation principles and practices. They should have experience in developing M&E frameworks and tools, as well as a solid grasp of data collection methodologies. Familiarity with online data management systems is essential, along with the ability to analyze and interpret data effectively. Strong communication skills are necessary to collaborate with various stakeholders and to provide clear guidance on M&E processes.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, development studies, or a related field is preferred for this position. Candidates should ideally have completed or be in the process of completing a degree in a relevant discipline, which provides them with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed for effective monitoring and evaluation work.

Experience:
While specific years of experience may not be required, candidates should demonstrate relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation, particularly in development or humanitarian contexts. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is advantageous, as is familiarity with the South Sudanese context and its challenges.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all reporting and communication will be conducted in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in South Sudan would be considered an asset, as it may enhance communication with local communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and the duration of the contract is not specified. The role may be part-time or full-time, depending on the needs of the PaCC project and the availability of the volunteer. The position is open to both national and international applicants, and compensation details are not provided, as it is a volunteer role.
