Job Overview:
The Digital Communication Consultant will play a crucial role in the transition and consolidation of UNICEF's digital platforms for the Asia-Pacific region. This position involves leading the onboarding and configuration of a new regional website, ensuring it is user-friendly, accessible, and compliant with UNICEF's digital standards. The consultant will work closely with communication and advocacy teams to develop a cohesive content strategy that reflects the unified narrative of the new regional office. The role requires a blend of editorial and technical skills to ensure the successful migration of content and the overall functionality of the new website.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with communication and regional planning teams to define a refreshed voice and narrative architecture for the Asia Pacific Regional Office.
  • Redesign top-level landing pages and key programmatic sections to reflect a unified regional narrative.
  • Draft and update core web pages introducing the new regional office and its priorities.
  • Lead editorial quality assurance for the website, ensuring clarity, consistency in tone and style, and adherence to UNICEF’s digital content standards.
  • Contribute to strategy discussions for social media channels aligned with the web strategy.
  • Support the provisioning and configuration of the new APRO site within UNICEF’s Drupal-based platform.
  • Configure navigation and taxonomy according to the approved information architecture.
  • Coordinate with GCA to ensure CMS user roles are correctly assigned.
  • Migrate priority content from existing websites to the new APRO website. 1
  • Oversee large-scale automated content migration and implement redirects. 1
  • Conduct functional QA on migrated content, navigation, links, and embeds. 1
  • Support editors in embedding approved third-party content and ensure compliance with UNICEF’s global UX, UI, and branding standards. 1
  • Identify and resolve content-level issues and escalate platform-related issues as necessary. 1
  • Verify GA4 and GTM dashboards are active and functional, flagging any additional tracking needs to GCA.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant work experience in digital content management, web governance, or digital project coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate content strategy into clear information architecture and page structures.
  • Proven experience onboarding and configuring websites in a multisite CMS environment, preferably with Drupal.
  • Strong understanding of information architecture, taxonomy, navigation, and content migration.
  • Knowledge of SEO metadata, accessibility standards (WCAG), and web analytics tools (GA4/GTM).
  • Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders across regions and global teams.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Communications, Digital Media, Information Management, or a related field is required. A technical background is welcome but not mandatory.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience in digital content management, web governance, or digital project coordination. Experience in onboarding and configuring websites, particularly in a multisite CMS environment, is essential. Familiarity with information architecture, taxonomy, and content migration is also required.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the Asia-Pacific region would be considered an asset.

The position is based in Kathmandu, Nepal, and may require occasional in-person coordination with the regional offices. The role is not full-time in the office, allowing for flexibility.
